Lucy Lawless celebrated her 43rd birthday this week. In commemoration of her contribution to geekdom click on the links to enjoy the pictures of her in her famous nerdy roles.

Xena Warrior Princess (by far my favorite character she has played)

Battlestar Galactica as Number 3 or D’anna Biers

And her most recent role as Lucretia on Spartacus.

How It Should Have Ended

Below is a  link to a short film on how District 9 should have ended. I have to admit I had a lot of questions after watching that fabulous movie. But I always figured they had just left it ambiguous with plans for a sequel. Which has yet to appear. So, if you need closure, these guys can give it to you. Go to Nerd Bastard to get the link.

Picture Perfect Game of Thrones

New pictures from the much anticipated new television series, Game of Thrones. I requested the book that the series is based on from the library, but I’m not sure I will get it in time to read it before the first episode airs. Sadness. See pictures of the gorgeous set/CG at io9.

Delightful Superhero Mash-ups

Jennifer Hudson as Wonder Woman

Jon Hamm as Batman and Superman

Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern

Official Captain America Trailer

My first thought after watching the trailer- did he just say Mr. Stark, as in Tony Stark’s (Iron Man) father? Yes, yes he did. The tie in with all the movies is fabulous.

And ok, the sweaty oily abs I’ll buy, I’m sure the procedure is painful, hence the sweat. But the pants, I don’t buy those. What, they get magically bigger too? Sorta, they perfectly fit everywhere except the length? I think not. I think they should be mostly ripped off, you know, for the sake of believability. Yah, that’s why. [via Topless Robot]
