According to wikipedia:
The Dark Tower is a series of books written by American author Stephen King, which incorporates themes from multiple genres, including fantasy, science fantasy, horror and western. It describes a “Gunslinger” and his quest toward a tower, the nature of which is both physical and metaphorical…. Besides the seven novels that compose the series proper, many of his other books relate to the story, introducing concepts and characters that come into play as the series progresses
Now in the works is an attempt to put this 7 books series on the screen. They will do this by making two movies and two t.v. mini series. [via Deadline and Topless Robot]
As Topless Robot points out:
“Bardem’s got that crazy charisma that could really make this a mass audience hit, which is what it will need to be if we don’t want to end up with one semi-successful movie and a TV series canceled half-way through the first season.”
I think for anything to carry over into multiple medias, charisma is a definite must.
Now, I realize TR refers to the canceled show Firefly, and it’s subsequent movie Serenity, in an “I wish it had lasted longer” way. But, I would have to disagree with any insinuation that Nathan Fillion was not charismatic enough to keep a TV show on the air. I fully blame Fox for the show failing to make it through the last half of the season and the six seasons for which it should have been renewed.
