It’s the Weekend and I’m Catching Up

Gah. I have never felt so overwhelmed, except when I was studying to take the bar. But it is Self Care Saturday and I am doing all the things that I love that I haven’t been able to do because of all the overwhelming things. I’ve gone through a lot of audiobooks that I want to write up and I’ve seen great things come across my Facebook and Twitter accounts that I want to share as well. So here goes my attempt to catch up on my nerdy business. And go.

They are making a GD TV show about the MAGICIANS by Lev Grossman. Go to the link and watch the official trailer. Now. (via JohnMichael)

I’m waiting.

OK. I will assume you’ve seen it. AAAHHHH! I can’t even. I want to quit all the things and find the episodes that are in production and binge watch them and force them to make more!!!! Why is it not 2016 yet???

What if Game of Thrones was Disneyfied? Would it look like this? (via George Takei)

Speaking of George Takei if you are not following him on Facebook. You really should be. He posts some amazing things that are sure to make your little nerd heart pitter and patter.

This next video is about two people who were given special effects make-up to show themselves and their soon to be spouse what they will look like over the next 70 years. It is a very amazing and heartwarming video that had me shedding more than a few tears. (via Tara Dee)

And you just gotta love the following hot chocolate mug even if you aren’t a huge basketball fan. It is just so cute! (via Loretta Milan)

Disney Characters In Nerdy Costumes

Check out Nerdist’s posting on cartoon characters in nerdy Halloween characters as imagined and drawn by Isaiah Stephens. Check out his other work on DeviantArt and Tumblr. Such as his imaginings of the Magic School Bus Kids All Grown Up. Some amazing artwork here folks! But my favorite so far is his Mulan as Xena, so much nerdy girl warrior goodness I’m about to explode!!!

Pinterest Board: Serenity Now!

I’ve done some rejiggering of my Pinterest board as I realized my Nerd Love board was getting a bit cluttered with all my different fandoms. So I separated out a few of them, like my Firefly/Serenity board called Serenity Now! Check it out as I’ve found some cool fa art and the like. Or check out a few of the links below.

Jayne and Vera fan art on DeviantArt.

Firefly and X-Files mash-up poster. I may have posted this before. But it always makes me smile.

Firefly cookie cutters, which I want. Like yesterday.

Serenity friendship necklaces on Etsy. Ah Wash, I miss you.

And this cool set of dishes. Serenity and the bot from Farscape, if I’m not mistaken.

Disney Princesses as Game of Thrones Characters

Have you all seen this? Disney Princesses as Game of Thrones characters, woot for a great geeky mash-up. I’ll admit I probably don’t get all the nuances because I have a cursory understanding of the characters, but mash-ups will always equal awesome in my mind and these are some really pretty ones to boot. These beautiful illustrations are the result of DjeDjehuti on deviantArt. Thanks to Sara for sending these my way. Sara you are right, seeing Belle’s side boob is very strange.

Nodds & Nends: Skeletal Micky Mouse, Diagon Alley, and GoT

Folks, you may have noticed that a couple of posts came out last Friday and funnily enough one on Saturday. Those were mistakes. Somehow, I got dates mixed up while I was putting together my posts and scheduling them for the future. What does that mean? Well, frankly, I’m behind at this point in how I like to schedule, and I really need a TARDIS? Anyone? Doctor? Someone?

Anyway, it also means that I haven’t had as much time to edit posts because I’ve been scrambling around trying to put them together instead. So I apologize for that. However, to make up for all of this, I have some cool things for you all to check out.

A Skeletal Micky Mouse, because awesome. Check out the artist’s site, more interesting works.

You can now explore Diagon Alley (at the theme park) via Google Maps. Which is kind of cool until you get to the end of the lane and hit a wall.

GoT characters as Simpson mash-ups. Because every awesome thing is awesomer if it is mashed-up with the Simpsons.

Amash-up between GoT and that Goyte song. There are spoilers. Even though I haven’t seen the show or read the books I can tell there are spoilers because . . . . I can, and I don’t mind, but you might. If you do watch the video, check out all the other nerdy references from Dr. Horrible to Doctor Who, I love catching (blatant) Easter Eggs like that.

Doctor Who Day: Tutus, Monsters, and Crossovers

This TARDIS tutu is rather simplistic, but I do love the idea. I’m not sure it is worth $150 as it looks like a cami (with TARDIS printing on it) has been sown onto tulle, but it is pretty. Aaaand further research shows that the $150 is only for the skirt. Hmmm. Well, perhaps tulle is expensive?  Hmmm, well it does look labor intensive? I guess. Anyway, interesting idea. [via]

I know I have posted other mash-ups with Sully and Mike and the TARDIS door, but I just love this concept art. I just rewatched Monsters Inc. because Chris had never seen it and I wanted to rewatch it before I saw Monsters U, but then I never saw Monsters U. Which is still a bummer. Perhaps I’ll try to see it this weekend. [via]

I really enjoy beloved characters meeting each other, like this Doctor Who and Garfield cross over. The only time I want to see a Dalek and wouldn’t take a bat to it is if it were here to exterminate Mondays. You can buy it as a t-shirt or hoodie on Redbubble.

So there is this concrete bench down by the lake near where I live that gets painted every year. A committee comes up with a theme, divides the wall into sections and participants are given a section to paint as they will. It’s a  cool concept and a great time with food vendors and music every year. Unfortunately this year I was on vacation while the festival took place, but my mom went and she got a picture of a very geeky section of the wall.

Buffy Bits

Both of these videos are via The Mary Sue.

Game of Thrones opening Buffy Style.

Behind the scenes on the Buffy set. Some of the video quality isn’t the best. But it’s a lot of fun.

Blink to the Future and Other Doctor Who Nerdiness

These two TARDIS engagement boxes are quite the work of art. The second one had me at Woo ooo ooo. (Sorry, I had to.)  These are custom made and you could get one for your very own engagement moment.

Official Doctor Who stamps are going to be made in March. Honestly, I kind of want them. I used to collect stamps as a kid, and while I no longer have my stamp book full of really cool stamps from my grandparents’ friends’ travels, the 8 year old nerd in me needs these.

Matt Smith on a rock. Or rather his hair and bow tie photoshopped onto one. All the same, it’s quite funny.

This sterling silver TARDIS is so exquisite. What an amazing piece of art. Le sigh. [via]

Check out this Back to the Future and Doctor Who cartoon mash-up. The animation is great, I wish this was a real thing. LOL

Mash-up, Interview, and The Story of Amy

Read the Mary Sue’s interview with Matt Smith here. I think it perfectly encapsulates why he is my favorite Doctor.

A Firefly mash-up, of The TARDIS Job (i.e. The Train Job episode), it’s amazing.  View the Art of Jon Sumrow here on his tumblr, he’s pretty nerdy. I think you may like it. [via]

A raptastic video of Doctor Who vs. Doc Brown. You heard me right. Thanks to  wrylab for the tip.

This heart breaking video is The Story of Amy in a few clips and some grand music. I miss Doctor Who. Le sigh.
